Following his visit to Canary Wharf for Ash Wednesday, Archbishop Vincent Nichols has recognised the importance of the Catholic Community on Canary Wharf by establishing a permanent catholic chaplaincy to cater for the spiritual and pastoral needs of Canary Wharf workers.

About 430 people participated in the Mass and Archbishop Nichols was very impressed with the number of people who took time from their workplaces to start their Lenten devotions.

Ash Wednesday Registration
This year’s Canary Wharf Ash Wednesday Mass will be celebrated by the Most Rev Vincent Nichols, Archbishop of Westminster.
Once again Barclays have kindly allowed the CWCC to hold this Mass at their headquarters located at One Churchill Place (map located at he bottom of this page).

The CWCC is pleased to announce that the Canary Wharf Ash Wednesday Mass in 2010 will be celebrated by the Most Rev Vincent Nichols, Archbishop of Westminster.

Archbishop of Southwark
At 11:00 am (GMT) on Friday, 4th December 2009, The Holy Father accepted the resignation of Archbishop Kevin McDonald of Southwark in accordance with Canon 401 §2.
The Archbishop submitted his resignation to the Holy Father having taken account of medical advice.

New Website
The founder of the CWCC website David Furber has moved from Canary Wharf to work in the City. A new team is now looking after the website and administration. We all wish David well in his new role and hope he will be able to join us from time to time at CWCC events.
